The Latin Chamber of Commerce of the United States, CAMACOL, is the largest Hispanic business organization in Florida. CAMACOL’s mission is to foster the entrepreneurial spirit of the community.
As such, the chamber has developed programs to strengthen business activity, promote economic development, and facilitate international trade. Our year round mission is to establish commercial linkages, develop business opportunities, and conduct activities which create and retain employment in our State.

In essence, CAMACOL’s mission is to develop and strengthen the small and minority business sectors of Florida.
CAMACOL, has consistently identified innovative industries and sectors which have or will have the potential for economic growth and impact of our economies.
As such CAMACOL identified the need to foster the film and entertainment industry in the State of Florida and disseminate the advantages of doing business in this niche market. In response CAMACOL created a Film and Entertainment Development Program which targets the Latin, minority, independent and international film and entertainment industry.
Stats-at-a-glance
The US Film Industry is one of the most competitive in the world, providing high wage and skilled manufacturing jobs that have an immediate impact on the economy. Florida recently passed the Florida Industry Financial Incentive Program which has helped to jumpstart substantial film and entertainment growth in the state, leading to $1.3 billion in business expenditures in the state and $77million dollars paid in wages to Floridians.
- Out of 11 projects awarded tax credits from 2010-11, four projects generated 4081 jobs, paid $21,599,723 in Florida wages, and generated $18,385,376.71 in non-wage Florida expenditures.
- Business infrastructure in the state is expanding to support the film and television industry.
CAMACOL/Florida Film and Entertainment Industry Development Program
Objective: To establish the State of Florida and Miami Dade County as the Hub and Gateway for the Latin and Minority Independent Film,
This industry creates jobs and generates revenue
Television and Digital Media, through a two step initiative.
When film production leaves, it takes away large number of jobs that are filled at the site of the filming such as most of the non-critical supporting actors and behind-the-scenes workers, caterers, drivers, and production assistants.
Step One
- Work with the Governor’s Office of Film & Entertainment and the Florida Legislature for the development and expansion of the motion picture and entertainment industry sectors, attracting and promoting film and video production in Florida.
- Serve as liaison and outreach between the entertainment industry and government entities, specifically in the Latin independent film and entertainment sector; to enhance the marketing of Miami Dade County & the State of Florida as a world-class production center for independent productions.
- Develop mechanisms that will further opportunities for Latin, minority independent projects/talent.
- Outreach and establish linkages both domestically and internationally by actively participating and or sponsoring activities and initiatives that have the potential to expand and further opportunities for the industry.
- Utilize CAMACOL’s unique international network through its Hemispheric Congress to establish linkages that will foster support from business to this industry, and enable emerging projects access to the international marketplace.
Step Two
- Establish linkages and vehicles that will support the next phase of the ever-evolving industry, as has been seen by Hollywood’s jump into local language productions with overseas companies or cementing rights deals with various territories;
- Identify potential countries (new markets) for partnerships;
- Foster The Entertainment Industry Cluster[1] as a viable source for economic development in Miami Dade County and the State of Florida;
- Increase and promote awareness through effective outreach and marketing activities targeted to traditional and non-traditional sources;
- Promote Latin and film, television and digital media production and post production activities in Miami Dade County and the State of Florida; highlighting cost effectiveness, advantages, incentives, product and talent;
- Promote and increase awareness of Latin and minority independent film and entertainment industry by developing effective marketing tools and targeting outreach activities;
